Imran says Nawaz campaigning for PTI through ‘love fest with Modi’

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan on Wednesday taunted deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif by saying he was in fact campaigning for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) through the ‘love fest’ with Indian PM Narendra Modi.

In a sarcastic tweet, the PTI chief said, “I appreciate Nawaz campaigning for PTI through his now-obvious love fest with Modi, to save his corruption and business interests.”

“I am alarmed that at the rate he is speaking Modi’s language, PTI may not be able to take in the massive exodus from PML-N,” he added.

Since a number of ex-PML-N leaders were joining PTI, Imran mocked the ruling party by saying that his party may not be able to take in the massive exodus from the PML-N. He criticised Nawaz for ‘speaking Modi’s language’ and being a security threat for the country.

It should be noted that Nawaz Sharif is under fire from his opponents following his controversial statement on the 2008 Mumbai attacks. His statement was unanimously rejected by the National Security Committee, which termed it “incorrect and misleading”. However, he himself ‘rejected’ the statement issued by NSC in a press talk later on.

Following the NSC statement, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had clarified at a press conference that Nawaz’s remarks were misquoted in the media.
