- Board allows land allotment to establish National Institute of Human Rights
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) during the fifth board meeting, on Wednesday approved the allotment of the entire I-17 sector to the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) to establish a medical city along with land allotment for the establishment of the National Institute of Human Rights in the federal capital.
All in all, the meeting had 11 agendas on its list ranging from approving the commercial plot sales through which CDA bagged 7.10 billion rupees through auction of 29 commercial plots at pristine locations around the capital fetching civic agency direly needed revenue to the enhancement in advance charges for booking to 10% of the rent.
However, the main agenda item of the board meeting revolved around allotment of Sector I-17 to the National University of Medical Sciences. It is pertinent to mention here that the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), capital’s largest hospital, spans over entire sub-sector of G-8/3.
On this scale, the medical city will be one of the largest hospitals in the entire country. The medical city will include a 4,000-bed hospital, an organ transplant centre, medical college, nursing college and other allied facilities.
The board has also given formal approval of fee structure of the CDA Model School. While the agenda of separation of files on account of share of commercial plots with more than one co-sharer was considered a procedural matter and sent back to estate member to decide it according to rules and regulations of the Estate Directorate.
Another item on the agenda pertained to re-planning of plots for widows of CDA employees has been deferred. The meeting was attended by CDA Chairman Usman Akhtar Bajwa, chief commissioner of the Islamabad Capital Territory, Rawalpindi commissioner, Administration Member Yasir Pirzada, Finance Member Dr Fahad Haroon Aziz, Engineering Member Shahid Sohail, Planning and Development Member Asad Mehboob Kiyani and Estate Member Khushal Khan.
