ISLAMABAD: The contradictory attitudes of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders does not mean that there is any difference of opinion between PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and his brother former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, reports a local media outlet.
It is further stated that it is a classic good cop, bad cop situation where the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz have adopted an aggressive attitude towards institutions whereas the party’s newly elected President Shehbaz Sharif has been acting like a ‘responsible politician’.
According to the publication, the ‘party is united on all issues’ despite that the differences of opinion between the PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and his brother.
A provincial minister, who is close to the Punjab chief minister, told the publication that the party, including Shehbaz Sharif, strongly agrees with the narrative of Nawaz Sharif, but the reason for adopting a neutral stance by the Punjab government is to give a “message to certain quarters that the party is still not on a reactionary mode and is ready to move ahead if democracy is allowed to flourish.”
