FAISALABAD: A mother of one child was killed after firing on Wednesday during the deceased’s cousin’s wedding ceremony which is said to be the case of honour killing.
The incident took place in Chak 129 RB in the jurisdiction of Sahnyanwala Thana. The assailant, Ajmal Gujjar, shot dead Shahida Bibi, 35, after which he managed to escape.
Shahida’s dead body was shifted to Tehsil Headquarters hospital.
According to family members, the accused was cleaning his pistol when accidently the trigger was pressed and a bullet hit Shahida, killing her on the spot.
Police say that the victim’s parents are trying to save the accused since circumstantial evidence suggests that it was a case of honour killing.
