ISLAMABAD: The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has decreased medicine prices by up to 41 percent, reported Dawn on Friday. The change in prices comes amid an investigation by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) into the Minister for National Health Services (NHS) Saira Afzal Tarar over inflated prices of medicines.
On November 18, 2013, DRAP had issued a notification increasing the prices of medicines (apart from life-saving) by 15 percent. A number of companies obtained a stay order from courts after former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered DRAP to withdraw its notification.
A notification for the change in prices would be issued in the coming week, said the authority.
