Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on saturday terminated the services of his legal team, barring a small skeleton staff and has outsourced all of their services to a Qatari letter-writing sweatshop.
The Qatari outfit is going to provide all the requisite financial correspondence that the premiere and his family require.
Critics have already started hitting out at the decision.
“Have you seen the conditions that the Qatari princes in these factories work in,” asked Shaima Haider, a human rights activist. “Their conditions are going to be much worse in this case because of the huge quantum of work that they will have to do here.”
In addition to labour rights activists, environmentalists have also expressed their concerns.
“Judging by the amount of paper involved, we estimate that around one in ten trees on the planet is going to be felled in relation with the PM’s legal defence in the Panama case,” said Shaiq Hussain, an environmental lawyer.
It is pertinent to mention that economists predict that financial correspondence is going to overtake oil as the middle-eastern state’s largest revenue source by 2050. Only last week the Qataris test-fired an 11,000-km letter for a possible request by new US president Donald Trump.
