SUKKAR: Sale of winter delights, particularly fried food items, is increasing after a considerable rush is being witnessed at these shops and restaurants, as the winter season is touching its peak in Sukkur.
The demand for fish has increased manifolds this winter, and fish outlets in different areas are crowded with the customers.
Various kinds of fish including Dambro, Morakho, Pallow, Silver Fish and others are being served at the stalls where fried fish is available at Rs1000 to Rs1600 per kilogram.
Nowadays, are also selling uncooked fish on handcarts, bicycles and makeshift stalls from Rs300 to Rs480 per kilogram.
The people are also enjoying the traditional local winter items like Doodh Jalebi, Gajar ka Halwa, chicken corn soup, Kashmiri tea, fried fish, samosa, pakora, vegetable rolls, hot coffee and other items which are high in demand particularly nowadays. Several markets of the town including Minara market, Clock Tower, Dadu Chowk, Shikarpur road, Barrage Colony, Bander Road, Queens road and other places can be seen having stalls of winter delights.
However, according to some health experts, the use of excessive fried items could have a negative impact on the human health. On the other hand, sub-standard food is being sold openly in different markets of Sukkur, and the authorities have failed to take an appropriate action against the vendors selling unhealthy food items.
