LAHORE: A delegation of Muslim Conference headed by its President Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan met Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) core committee member and former Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Wednesday.
They discussed issues of mutual importance and mainly decided to highlight the Kashmir issue on the international front. Sardar Talib Nakai was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarwar said, “The cries for the independence of Jammu and Kashmir are resounding in the valley. We, the people of Pakistan, stand besides our Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their invaluable and unforgettable struggle against the most vicious, ferocious and inhumane power in the shape of India.”
He further said that it was clearly mentioned in the United Nations (UN) charter to condemn and oppose the genocide/mass killing of people, irrespective of the region to which they belonged, but the UN had adopted complete silence against the atrocities committed against Kashmiris by Indian security forces throughout the liberation struggle of the local population. This was not acceptable to us as the move was against the provisions of the UN charter, he added.
Chaudhry Sarwar also said that, “Without establishing peace in Jammu and Kashmir, durable and long-lasting peace in the South Asian region would remain a distant dream. Being a member of the British parliament, I always stood for peoples’ right to self-determination. We have a moral responsibility to raise our voices against the oppression committed by the Indian regime against Kashmiris.”
He said that the PTI had vowed to stand by the Kashmiri nation through good and bad times, while adding that we would not hold back from making sacrifices for Kashmir’s liberation.
