QUETTA: Police have arrested 70 drug addicts and six narcotics dealers from Quetta’s main nullah on Tuesday.
According to senior police officer Abdullah Afridi, the police have also destroyed several safe havens established by the peddlers inside the nullah.
Among the 70 drug addicts picked up by the police were also two women. Afridi said that the rehabilitation of the addicts was the police’s top priority and they would be handed over to a rehabilitation centre very soon.
He further disclosed that the police team did not face any resistance during its operation at the nullah, which served as a shelter for both the drug addicts and the drug peddlers. Subsequent to the operation, the police also set the tents erected in the area on fire to discourage users from returning.
