Governor State Bank urges govt to avoid violence in fight against polio virus

Governor State Bank of Pakistan Tariq Bajwa has urged prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to avoid violence in its fight against the polio virus.

“We can understand how it could be tempting to use force but the government should be circumspect and not use force,” said Shahid Ghafoor, the SBP chief’s official spokesperson, addressing reporters at his office on Karachi’s II Chundrigar Road.

“This is our advice.”

The governor’s spokesperson, also tweeted from his official twitter account @centralbankPR. “Governor State Bank telephoned PM. Suggested to handle polio virus peacefully avoiding violence from both sides as it is not in national interest & cohesion.
