HYDERABAD: A student of Sindh University (SU) was killed in a road accident between a water tanker and a motorbike on the Indus Highway outside the university in Jamshoro on Thursday.
According to Jamshoro police, the deceased student has been identified as Ahmed Ali Rathore who is a final year student of the pharmacy department.
In reaction to the incident, hundreds of students of SU staged a sit-in protest and blocked the highway for hours.
They demanded immediate arrest of the driver and enforcement of a complete ban on the movement of heavy vehicles on that stretch of the highway outside the three universities in Jamshoro.
They also demanded other traffic regulation measures and construction of pedestrian bridges on that road.
The police told that the incident’s FIR had not been lodged so far while the body was handed over to the family.
