Hanif Abbasi calls Imran’s request to change statement an insult to judiciary

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Hanif Abbasi on Friday came down hard on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief, saying Imran Khan’s request to make changes to the statements submitted earlier o the apex court is an insult to the judicial system.

Hanif has filed a request with the apex court, seeking rejection of Imran’s appeal.

According to the PML-N leader, the claim was baseless that earlier recorded statements were based on “incorrect recollection and flawed advice”.

Hanif’s request has come after Imran’s counsel Naeem Bukhari asked the court a chance to submit new documents regarding Niazi Services Limited, the PTI chief’s offshore company.

Bukhari had made the request after the Supreme Court noted on October 17 discrepancies in the additional documents that Imran submitted over the issue. The apex court pointed out that the additional documents did not show the reason why exactly were £100,000 were in the account of Niazi Services Limited.

As a result, Supreme Court sent notices to the PTI chief’s counsel as well as Hanif, the petitioner in Imran’s case.

Therefore, on Friday, Hanif submitted an application in the apex court, requesting Imran’s appeal be rejected.

According to Hanif, submitting wrong statement before the court called for punishment under Article 62 (1) f of the Constitution.

Further criticising the request made by the PTI counsel, the PML-N leader said it did also not mention what changes they would want to make, which were necessary to state.
