KARACHI: In a move to yet again benefit those who don’t need it, the Sindh assembly has raised the wages of members of provincial assembly (MPAs) by a whopping 150 per cent.
According to details, different allowances including petrol and house rent have also been raised by 300 per cent whereas opposition leader’s status has been raised to that of the minister. Following the massive hike, Sindh Chief Minister’s salary has augmented to Rs150,000 from Rs35,000, whereas assembly Speaker would also draw Rs150,000, following a hike of Rs70,000.
MPAs would get Rs100,000 distributed into different allowances.
Salary hike would be applied from July, 2016, following which national exchequer would suffer a massive burden of Rs300 million.
