ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have arrested a man on Friday for distributing pamphlets of the proscribed Islamic organisation Hizb-ul-Tahreer (HuT).
Police officials said that the pamphlets being distributed outside a mosque were meant to incite the public against the government and state institutions.
Out of the five men who were handing pamphlets to people outside a mosque in sector G-7/2, four fled after seeing the police patrol. One of them, identified as Muhammad Naeem Yunus, was arrested by the police. The pamphlets recovered from his possession carried literature designed by the banned HuT.
According to a police statement, the pamphlets read “Get rid of this weak leadership which seeks honour in subservience to and alliance with America.” They also contained hate speech against the government and institutions of Pakistan. Police have booked the five suspects under the anti-terrorism law.
