The impasse between opposition parties regarding the election of Leader of Opposition has ended with all opposition benches parties reaching upon the consensus candidate of Chaudhry Nisar.
“We were going over and over amongst ourselves regarding which member of this august house has demonstrated the biggest ability to damage the ruling party,” said Shah Mehmood Qureshi of the PTI. “And we have decided upon the former interior minister.”
“We feel that it is a better choice that any from our own parties,” chimed in Farooq Sattar of the MQM. “The best candidate was right in front of us all along.”
Nisar, Member of the National Assembly, has been the Leader of Opposition in the past and has informally continued his role as Prime Minister Pain in the Neck.
“The best part of his candidacy is that he will continue to be a member of the treasury benches,” said Qureshi. “When his clear and present opposition to the government will be pointed out, he will furiously affirm his loyalty to the government. Such is his skill at this portfolio.”
