At least nine people died and four others were injured in collision between two over-speeding vehicles here on Saturday.
Rescue sources said that an over-speeding trailer collided with a van near Hayat Canal in Layyah. Five people died on the spot while eight others were critically injured and rushed to hospital where four succumbed to their wounds raising death toll to nine while condition of the wounded people was also started to be serious. The police impounded both vehicles and after registering a case, have started the investigation.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives in a road accident at Chowk Azam, Layyah. He has expressed condolences and sympathies with the bereaved families. He has directed the administration to provide best treatment facilities to the injured. He has also sought a report from the administration.
