LAHORE: Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Captain (Retd) AminWains inaugurated the 111 Application to improve the community policing and to strengthen the intelligence system at the community level on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, CCPO said that we are living in the state of war and the monster of terrorism cannot be defeated without the support of the general public. “The purpose of this 111 application is to make public a part of community policing and now our people will be able to have a check on suspected elements in their surroundings and they can easily pass on the information related to criminal activities to local police by using this application,” the Lahore police chief said.
He further added that 35,000 officials of Lahore police along with all the local bodies’ representatives have been made a part of this application. The person who will pass on the information would not be disclosed keeping in view the dangers to his life. Every official of Lahore Police will be bound to provide information of his beat through this software and he will pass on the information related to criminal and suspected activities in his area on a monthly basis. “The action will be taken promptly when we’ll get information through this application,” CCPO added. Lauding the services of Operations SSP Athar Ismail, SSP Admin Rana Ayaz Salim and CTO Rai Ijaz, CCPO said that these officers played a significant role in making this application that would help a lot to win the war against terrorism.
SSP Rana Ayaz Salim said that the officer of the rank of DSP would be made in charge of the intelligence wing and the only purpose of this project is to make public a part of the community policing. “Earlier, our people were reluctant to pass on the information to the police but now this application has been introduced to keep the whole process discreet,” he said. Operations DIG Dr Haider Ashraf, Investigation DIG Chaudhry Sultan and Discipline SSP Tariq Aziz were also present on the occasion.
