Court adjourns hearing of Dr Asim corruption case

KARACHI: Karachi’s accountability court (AC) has adjourned the hearing of Rs462 billion corruption reference against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former Petroleum Minister Dr Asim and others till June 10.

The corruption reference against Dr Asim and other accused, including Athar Hussain, came up for hearing before the court on Saturday.

Dr Asim, Athar Hussain and other accused appeared before the court.

The accused Athar Hussain took the plea, in the petition filed by him seeking his acquittal from the reference, that legal norms were not met while filing the reference against him; therefore, he should be exonerated from this case.

The court remarked that the petitions filed by all the accused persons would be decided on June 10.
