The Tharparkar desert an area of 22,000 square kilometers which makes it the 18th largest area of the world. Its population is around 1.5 million and the district’s literacy rate is 18.36 per cent. A total of 5,229 government schools are non-operational in the province and 798 of them are located in Tharparkar. However, the absence of qualified teachers and inadequate infrastructure, it is trivial. Thus, the government is requested to take immediate measure as it is a critical issue and must be addressed soon.
