Power crisis to be history by 2018: PM

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday reiterated the federal government’s resolve to end load shedding by 2018, after the completion of ongoing hydro-electric power projects initiated by the federal government.

Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of Tangi Kurram Dam, he said that the Diamer Bhasha, Dasu, Munda, Golan-Gol, and Machai dams and several others hydropower projects would add enough electricity to the national grid to end the power crisis.

The prime minister said that the federal government’s judicious utilisation of natural resources had steered the country and the nation towards a revolutionary change.

“Poverty and illiteracy is not our destiny. We will make our own future. A prosperous future awaits us,” he told the gathering.
