ISLAMABAD: Good news for the employees of Sindh Governor House/Secretariat is that Sindh chief minister has approved record increase in Governor’s House allowance which would be effective from December 2016.

“With the approval of the Competent Authority i.e. the chief minister, the Government of Sindh has been pleased to enhance the rates of Governor’s House Allowance in respect of 553 employees working in the Governor House/Secretariat with effect from December 1, 2016,” said an office memorandum issued by Sindh Finance Department.

According to details of recent historic enhancement of Governor’s House Allowance, an official with BPS 18 will take house allowance of Rs 100,000, while official with BPS 19 will earn Rs 200,000, and an official with BPS 20 will take Rs 250,000 under the head house allowance. Similarly, an official with BPS 21 will get Rs 300,000 house allowance, said available copy of the office memorandum.

Similarly, an increase of Rs 4,000 has been made in the allowance of employees with BPS 1 to BPS 3, Rs 6,000 for the employees with BPS 4 to BPS 7, Rs 10, 000 for BPS 8 to BPS 10, Rs 15,000 for BPS 11 to BPS 15, Rs 20,000 for BPS 16 to BPS 17.

Interestingly, record raise has been made in the allowances of officials of BPS 18, BPS 19, BPS 20, and BPS 21, while nominal increase in the allowance for lower cadre employees of Sindh Governor House/Secretariat has been made by the Sindh CM.

Earlier, prior to the recent raise, an official with BPS 18 was taking only Rs 10,000 as house allowance, but now he/she will earn Rs 100, 000 under the head house allowance. In the same way, official with BPS 19 who was taking only Rs 10,000 will now take Rs 200,000 and an official with BPS 20 who was taking Rs 12,000 as house allowance will now earn Rs 250,000. Also, an official with BPS 21 who had taken Rs 12,000 will now get Rs 300,000 on account of house allowance.

It is also learnt that the Sindh CM, while approving historic increase in the house allowance of employees of Governor House has made increase starting from Rs 1,000 up to Rs 2400 percent. Secretary Syed Hasan Naqvi issued the office memorandum on February 1, 2017, which, however, will be effective from December 2016.
