Transport to be provided to education dept officers for monitoring: minister

Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that the district’s education department officers will be provided with vehicles to supervise schools and enhance the monitoring system.

The minister was talking to a delegation of the European Union here in his office on Tuesday, according to a statement.

The delegation comprised of Bernard Farncois, Anne Kofoed, Siddiqui Bhatti and Zeeshan Tariq, while Education Schools Secretary Jamal Mustafa and Reform Support Unit Chief Executive Faisal Uqali also attended the meeting.

The minister stressed better coordination between donor agencies and the government for better results in the education sector. It was decided that all stakeholders must be on the same page in order to implement the Sindh Education Plan.

Briefing the delegation about steps taken for the enhancement of education in the province, the Minister said that absenteeism had been reduced and that absconding teachers had been dismissed.

Jam Mehtab added, ‘A parallel check and balance system besides the biometric system is being introduced under the supervision of DCs and ACs to monitor attendance of teachers and students.

The participants of the meeting also agreed to establish a donor consultation desk, taking all the departments concerned on board, in order to facilitate them.
