Imran, Tareen disqualification pleas: Arguments on Dec 19

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday fixed December 19 for arguments on the petitions seeking disqualification of PTI chief Imran Khan and the party’s senior leader Jahangir Tareen as members of the parliament.

The disqualification petitions against Imran Khan and Tareen have been filed in the commission by Shahnawaz Dhillon, Malik Khalil Ahmed and Bilal Mustafa Bhutta, respectively.

During the hearing, the ECP fixed the date of December 19 for arguments over the petitions.

The lawyers of Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen objected over approving the petitions for hearing.

Imran Khan in his reply submitted in the ECP on Monday had rejected all accusations mentioned in the reference.

The lawyers of both politicians said that the references filed against their clients were baseless and beyond the legal framework.
