Sheikh Rashid gets notice to evacuate a ‘part of Lal Havelli’

Sheikh Rashid on Wednesday said that he received a notice from Evacuee Trust Property Board to leave 10 marlas land of his residence, Lal Haveli.

The notification stated that Sheikh Rashid’s hold on Lal Havelli’s portion is illegal. Board’s Chairman Sadiq Al Farooq said that the hold on the area must be relinquished within 15 days. He said that the land was taken during Musharraf’s tenure.

Sheikh Rashid, however, refused to back down and said that ‘nobody can make him evacuate the portion’. He said that he would announce lock down of Rawalpindi on Thursday at 3pm.

He said that Lal Havelli is his personal property and his hold on the property isn’t illegal. “The government wants to create chaos so that we can be termed terrorists,” he said.

He said that on Oct 28 he would announce sit-in whether Tahirul Qadri would be a part of Islamabad protest or not.

Earlier, Rashid and his brother had requested that the land be allotted to them however it was turned down.
