The Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development took serious notice of the embezzlements of Rs 34 billion in the purchase of land by the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI).
The meeting of the NA body was held on Thursday with MNA Mir Aamer Ali Khan Magsi in the chair to consider the issue of purchase of land/assets by the EOBI a department of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.
The Standing Committee expressed concern over the non-registration of FIRs on the persons involved in the EOBI land purchase scam and over the non-arrest of the culprits involved in the crime.
The committee directed the FIA authorities to submit the report regarding the progress in the investigation of embezzlement cases. The committee invited the NAB authorities in the upcoming meeting to consider the cases and devise a strategy for speedy recovery.
The meeting was attended by Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, Syed Sajid Medhi, Mian Najeebuddin Awaisi, Mian Imtiaz Ahmad, Khial Zaman Orakzai, Sheikh Salahuddin, Aliya Kamaran and Aisha, members of parliament and officials of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.
