Two thieves were arrested while three of their accomplices fled from the Punjab University (PU) on Monday after attempting to steal copper wires.
According to PU sources, PU security staff apprehended Nasir Mushtaq and Shan Aziz when they were cutting copper into pieces in the rose field.
Assistant Security Officer Shahbaz Ahmed closely monitored the activities of the accused before making the arrest and later handed the latter over to the police.
One of the security guards, Abbas, sustained minor injuries during a scuffle with the accused.
