With an exceptional decrease in chicken prices, a mixed trend was witnessed on Sunday in the prices of food items in the markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

According to traders and wholesalers in different markets of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, a record decrease had been noted in chicken prices, as it was being sold at Rs 118-120 per kg against Rs 140 per kg during the past week, with a decrease of Rs 20-22 per kg, a private news channel reported.

Change in weather and with an increase in production of poultry positively contributed in this regard.

Meanwhile, eggs’ prices increased last week as compared to the preceding week; they were being sold at Rs 88 per dozen against last week’s price of Rs 85 per dozen.

A mixed trend was noted in the prices of perishable food items like vegetables, as some reflected a slight increase, while others remain stable.

However, no significant changes were observed in the fruit prices. Meat prices also remained stable this week as compared to the preceding week.
