The provincial government has issued sealing orders to at least 2000 illegal factories operating in the capital

All illegal factories have been warned to dutifully fulfill all legal requirements till September 22. District coordinator officer Lahore said that more than 2000 illegal factories functional in the city were being provided legal cover by corrupt officials of labour department, industries, civil defence and environment departments.He added that the government cant shut 2000 SME’s as thousands of laborers would be left unemployed.

Provincial authorities are ensuring implementations of safety laws after Karachi and Lahore infernos which claimed at least 330 lives and exposed crony practices of the respective governments. The two factories that burnt in Lahore and Karachi have been seized by law enforcement agencies.
