On the directives of the Punjab home department, the city district government Rawalpindi (CDGR) has constituted four-member committees in all tehsils of the district to keep a check on fireworks factories in order to curb sale of explosives to miscreants. The city district government has sought reports from tehsil committees within ten days. The committees would comprise respective tehsil assistant commissioners, DSPs and one official each from Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and civil defence. The teams would inspect license holder factories besides other illegal setup operating in the city so as to restrain terrorist to get explosive material which could be used in terrorist activities. Sources said that there are licence holding factories in district Rawalpindi, one each in Kalar Syedan and Murree while three to four licensed fireworks factories exist in Taxilla.
