Meera, the property tax defaulter

The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department on Tuesday sealed the house of renowned actress Meera located in Ahmad Block of Garden Town over non-payment of property tax. According to the department a team of Property Tax Zone-6, headed by Inspector Karamat, sealed the house. The actress is a defaulter of Rs 107,000 and had failed to pay the tax despite many notices. A source claimed that Meera had rented the house out to a family. “Ms Meera has been collecting the rent but has never bothered to pay the tax,” an official said, adding that tax evasion was a common practice among the elite.
