Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday said some of the Taliban groups have desired talks with the government.

Talking to reporters outside the Parliament House, Malik said he would take his leadership into confidence over the Taliban’s contacts with the government and subsequently take an appropriate decision in this regard. He offered general amnesty to the Taliban who would opt to lay down arms.

The interior minister said law of evidence would be amended to tighten noose around target killers, adding that continuous monitoring had brought betterment in Karachi. Malik rejected reports of his resignation, adding that he had no intention to resign.He said the government has succeeded in maintaining law and order in Karachi.
