Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Malik Muhammad Iqbal has been transferred from his post. Owing to Supreme Court’s displeasure and indictment, finally Malik Iqbal has been transferred to another department and his post has been given to ADG Tehsinullah, a private television channel reported. The channel said that though official notification has not been issued yet but there is a clear tip that Malik Iqbal has been made DG of National Anti-Terrorism Authority.
Earlier on June 3, the Supreme Court indicted Director General FIA Malik Mohammad Iqbal of contempt of court in NICL case. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry read draft of indictment against Malik. The CJP said that Malik Iqbal created hurdles in investigation of NICL case, adding that the FIA chief played role in removing investigating officer, Zaffar Qureshi.
SC directed interior secretary and establishment secretary to appear before the court along with the record.
