Bilawal warns prolonged AJK unrest could hurt Kashmir cause and Pakistan’s image
Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has called the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir concerning ahead of the July 27 elections. He said prolonged unrest would harm the Kashmir cause and Pakistan’s reputation.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has described the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir as troubling, saying a prolonged crisis would damage both the Kashmir cause and Pakistan’s standing.
Bilawal made the remarks on Wednesday while addressing PPP office-bearers and ticket holders in AJK during an unscheduled visit to the region ahead of the July 27 elections. He arrived in AJK on Tuesday.
The remarks come as AJK has faced protests and deadly clashes involving law enforcers and supporters of the recently proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee. The dispute centres on the group’s demand to abolish 12 seats in the AJK Legislative Assembly that are reserved for refugees from Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir who settled in mainland Pakistan after 1947.
Speaking to party workers in that context, Bilawal said any offensive language directed at Kashmiris would not be accepted. He warned that if the situation continued, it would deepen harm to the broader Kashmir cause and undermine Pakistan’s reputation.
