Bangladesh says it has seized $6.2bn in assets linked to Sheikh Hasina
Bangladesh says it has confiscated assets worth 760 billion taka linked to former premier Sheikh Hasina, her family and 10 business groups. Officials say 98 cases have been opened as authorities pursue alleged overseas funds.

DHAKA: Bangladeshi authorities say they have taken control of assets worth 760 billion taka, or about $6.2 billion, tied to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, members of her family and 10 business groups as investigations into her wealth continue.
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit said the confiscated holdings include 570 billion taka inside Bangladesh and another 190 billion taka abroad. Speaking to reporters while presenting the agency’s annual summary, BFIU chief Ikhtiar Mohammad Mamun said 98 cases had been opened in connection with inquiries involving Hasina and people associated with her.
Mamun said efforts were still under way to bring back funds transferred overseas.
