11 die after house roof collapses during heavy rain in Kohat
Eleven people, including women and children, were killed when a house roof collapsed during heavy rain in Kohat’s Lachi tehsil. Rescue 1122 said 15 people were trapped, and the injured were shifted to hospitals.

KOHAT: Eleven people, including women and children, died after the roof of a house collapsed during heavy rain in Kohat district’s Lachi tehsil on Tuesday, according to Rescue 1122 officials.
Officials said the incident took place in the Malagin area while a family gathering was under way inside the house. Many people were buried under the debris when the roof gave way.
Rescue 1122 said 15 people were trapped in the rubble. Rescue teams recovered all of them and shifted them to hospital. Of those pulled out, 11 later died of their injuries, while the remaining injured were given first aid and then referred to different hospitals for further treatment.
According to rescue officials, most of the injured were women and children. The dead included 50-year-old Basmeena, 45-year-old Nawab Jana, 45-year-old Farmeena and six-year-old Arham.
Government response
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan expressed grief over the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday. He described the house collapse during torrential rain in Kohat as deeply tragic and offered condolences to the bereaved families.
The minister also praised the prompt action of Rescue 1122 teams, saying they carried out an emergency operation and pulled out those trapped beneath the rubble. He said the injured were being provided the best possible treatment at hospitals.
Shafi Jan said the provincial government stood with the affected families in this difficult time and reaffirmed that all possible assistance would be extended to them. He also prayed for the deceased and for the recovery of those injured in the collapse.
