Younis Khan named league commissioner for KP Champions League

PESHAWAR: Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has been appointed league commissioner of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Champions League (KCL), with responsibility for overseeing the competition’s cricket-related framework and technical operations.

According to details announced by the league, Younis will supervise cricket operations, rules and regulations, technical matters, the tournament structure and overall cricketing affairs. The appointment places him in a central role for ensuring the event is run in accordance with professional and international standards.

The development follows the earlier appointment of former Pakistan captain Shahid Khan Afridi as brand ambassador of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Champions League. The league has also said that several current and former Pakistan international cricketers will be part of the tournament.

Launch ceremony set for July 18

The KCL’s grand launch ceremony is scheduled for July 18 at 6:00pm at Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar. Organisers said the event will be used to unveil the league’s official schedule, upcoming activities, a talent hunt programme and several other major announcements.

League organisers said the ceremony will be attended by the chief minister and governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, senior government officials, members of the business and corporate community, investors, media representatives, former and current Pakistan international cricketers, and other invited guests from different fields.

A live musical performance is also planned as part of the launch event, with singers Aima Baig and Rahim Shah scheduled to perform. Organisers have presented the evening as a combined showcase of cricket, music and regional culture ahead of the tournament’s rollout in the province.
