Senior KP official dies by suicide in Peshawar, police say
A senior Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government officer, Asim Javed, died after allegedly shooting himself at his residence in Peshawar, police said. Officials said initial evidence pointed to suicide, while the investigation and postmortem were under way.
PESHAWAR: A senior Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government officer died after allegedly shooting himself at his residence in Peshawar, police said on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Grade-18 officer Asim Javed. Police said the incident took place at his home, where he was found after the shooting.
According to his relatives, Asim Javed had been facing an ongoing property dispute with family members. Police have not announced any final conclusion and said the circumstances are still being examined.
SP Cantt Muhammad Junaid Kharl said the initial evidence suggested that the officer died by suicide. He added that investigators had collected material from the room where the shooting occurred and said the full facts would become clear after the postmortem examination.
