Man allegedly kills father with axe after argument in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: A man allegedly hacked his father to death with an axe after an argument in Mauza Kachawah, an area that falls within the limits of the Samasatta police station, on Wednesday.

According to reports, suspect Muhammad Zafar had returned home after watering his fields and was carrying an axe on his shoulder when his father, Khan Muhammad, questioned him harshly about where he had been. The exchange then turned into a heated quarrel.

Police said the suspect allegedly lost his temper during the argument and attacked his father with the axe. The victim suffered critical injuries and died at the scene after heavy bleeding.

After being informed of the incident, Samasatta police reached the site along with forensic experts and the crime scene unit. The body was shifted to hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police said the suspect had been arrested and further investigation was under way.
