QUETTA: Three people, including two seminary students, were killed in separate explosions in Quetta and Balochistan’s Duki district on Tuesday, police said.
In Quetta’s Sariab area, police said children from Imdadia Madrassah were playing at the Eidgah ground when an explosion ripped through the area, leaving three of them injured. The wounded were taken to Civil Hospital, where two boys later died. Police identified the deceased as 10-year-old Muhammad Sufyan and 11-year-old Khalil-ur-Rehman, while the injured child was named as seven-year-old Asadullah.
According to the bomb disposal squad, the blast was caused by a grenade that exploded while the children were in the ground. Police said the two boys who died had suffered multiple injuries. After legal formalities were completed, their bodies were handed over to their families. An investigation into the incident is under way.
In a separate incident in the Luni area of Duki district, a motorcyclist was killed when his vehicle hit a roadside improvised explosive device, police said. The man died at the scene, and his body was later moved to Duki Hospital. Police said unidentified persons had planted the device and that further investigation was in progress.
