KP received over Rs34.88tr in federal transfers in five years

ISLAMABAD: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa received more than Rs34.88 trillion from the federal government over the last five years, according to official documents laid before the provincial assembly.

The records show the transfers were made between 2021 and 2025 under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award as well as allocations linked to the War on Terror. Over that period, the province got Rs31.14 trillion through the NFC mechanism, while another Rs3.74 trillion was released under the War on Terror head.

The documents also state that K-P recorded its biggest yearly receipt in fiscal year 2024-25, when total federal transfers to the province reached Rs10.47 trillion. That amount included Rs9.35 trillion under the NFC Award and Rs1.12 trillion under the allocation against War on Terror.

According to the official figures presented in the assembly, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s overall share in federal funds during the five-year period stood at Rs36.48 trillion, of which more than Rs34.88 trillion had been transferred to the province.
