Seven held over illegal drilling on expressway green belt

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad authorities have arrested seven people after uncovering illegal water drilling on a green belt near Khanna Pul along the capital's Expressway, according to the district administration.

The action followed complaints about unauthorised activity at the site. The district administration said the drilling was taking place on the green belt area near Khanna Pul, prompting intervention from the local administration.

According to the administration, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad ordered immediate action after receiving reports about the operation. Acting on those directions, the Assistant Commissioner of Nilore carried out a raid at the location.

Officials said drilling work was still under way when the team inspected the site, despite the cancellation of the No Objection Certificate previously issued for the activity. Authorities said the machinery used in the operation was ordered to be seized.
