Doctors suspended after newborn suffers fractured arm

BAHAWALPUR: Bahawal Victoria Hospital has suspended five doctors after a newborn was found with a fractured arm following delivery at the facility, according to the hospital administration.

The suspended staff include three women doctors, a senior registrar and two post-graduate trainees. The administration said the action was taken over alleged negligence linked to the delivery case.

The hospital’s medical superintendent has also constituted an inquiry committee and directed it to submit its findings within 24 hours. The move follows the reported injury to the infant during childbirth at the hospital.

The newborn’s arm was later put in plaster by a team from the hospital’s surgery department.
