Pakistan choose to bat first against South Africa in Women’s T20 World Cup

BIRMINGHAM: Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first against South Africa in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 match at Edgbaston on Wednesday.

The fixture adds another chapter to a closely contested rivalry in women’s T20 internationals, although South Africa hold the edge overall. The two sides have now met 27 times in the format, with the Proteas winning 15 matches and Pakistan 12.

Pakistan went into the game with Gull Feroza, Muneeba Ali, who is also keeping wicket, Ayesha Zafar, Iram Javed, Natalia Pervaiz, Aliya Riaz, captain Fatima Sana, Rameen Shamim, Tuba Hasan, Nashra Sandhu and Sadia Iqbal.

South Africa named Laura Wolvaardt as captain, alongside Sune Luus, Annerie Dercksen, Nadine de Klerk, Marizanne Kapp, Chloe Tryon, Kayla Reyneke, wicketkeeper Sinalo Jafta, Shabnim Ismail, Ayabonga Khaka and Nonkululeko Mlaba.
