KARACHI: The Anti-Corruption South has registered a case over alleged financial irregularities worth Rs8.5 billion in the Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit project, naming former Karachi Metropolitan Corporation project director Zameer Abbasi and procurement director Jhumman Das.
Officials said the case was lodged after an inquiry into the project found suspected financial misconduct and possible losses to the public exchequer. The allegations include advance payments described as questionable as well as missing guarantees.
According to the findings cited by officials, the suspected misuse of funds involved major parts of the project, including work related to the Jam Sadiq Bridge and depot development.
The case has been filed after the inquiry examined the BRT scheme and identified what officials described as large-scale irregularities in the handling of project finances.
