Brother publicly slaps sister over property share in Islamabad's poshest neighbourhood

ISLAMABAD: A video out of Islamabad's upscale F-10 neighbourhood has left the internet seething after footage emerged showing a man physically attacking his own sister during what authorities have confirmed was a family dispute over property.

The clip spread rapidly across social media, drawing widespread condemnation. Officials confirmed that all three individuals visible in the footage are siblings, and that the altercation stemmed from a disagreement over inheritance.

What has amplified public anger is the setting. F-10 is among Islamabad's most prestigious and expensive residential areas. The property at the centre of the dispute is estimated to be valued at between Rs30 and Rs40 crore — a figure that makes the assault not just shocking but, for many, deeply telling.

Because wealth, as this video makes plain, offers women no protection.

The denial of inheritance rights to sisters and daughters is a reality that cuts across every economic class in Pakistan. Court cases drag on for years. Families apply pressure. Women are guilt-tripped, threatened, or simply worn down until they sign away what belongs to them. In this instance, a brother skipped all of that and reached for something faster.

Many watching the video online made the same observation: the size of the house is irrelevant. The problem inside it is everywhere.

Whether legal proceedings follow remains to be seen. What is already clear is that this video has struck a nerve — not because it is unusual, but because it is not.
