India blocks Telegram ahead of NEET retest after exam leak scandal

NEW DELHI: India on Tuesday restricted access to the Telegram messaging platform ahead of a retest for a national medical college entrance examination, following last month’s scandal over a leaked question paper.

The Ministry of Electronics ordered the restrictions to remain in place until June 22, the day the retest is scheduled.

Features allowing users to edit messages already posted will remain limited until June 30. India’s National Testing Agency (NTA) said the action was taken because the platform had been used by organised groups involved in exam fraud.
