Girl reunited with family 11 years after going missing

KARACHI: The Edhi Foundation has reunited a woman with her family more than a decade after she went missing, according to the welfare organisation.

The foundation said Rila was 12 years old when she was found in Karachi's Akhtar Colony area on December 15, 2015. She was then moved to Edhi Home in Sohrab Goth, where she remained under care over the years.

Edhi officials said Rila is now 23. They said her father identified her after 11 years, leading to the start of the handover process.

After her identity was verified, she was handed over to her father, Haq Nawaz, and her brother, the foundation said. The reunion was marked by emotional scenes as the family met again after a long separation.
