Elderly woman found bludgeoned to death

KARACHI: A 61-year-old widow was killed inside her home in Gulshan-e-Iqbal in what police suspect was a robbery-linked attack.

The victim, Amina, wife of the late Abdul Ghafoor, lived in Block 13-G of Madina Colony Katchi Abadi. Gulshan-e-Iqbal SHO Saud said she was living on the first floor of a 30-square-yard, one-room house with her disabled son.

Police said unidentified assailants entered the house and hit Amina on the head with a brick. Her gold earrings were also ripped from her ears, according to the police account, strengthening suspicion that robbery was the motive behind the killing.

The body was discovered lying in blood after her son returned from work, police said. An investigation is under way to trace those involved in the attack.
