ISLAMABAD: A one-day workshop on mobile journalism, digital storytelling and documentary filmmaking was held at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts in Islamabad under the National Youth Mobile Travel & Tourism Videography Competition 2026.
The training brought together 60 young participants from different parts of Pakistan and focused on helping them develop practical skills to produce tourism-related content using smartphones. The initiative was aimed at supporting young storytellers in documenting and highlighting Pakistan's cultural heritage, historical sites, tourism facilities, natural landscapes and people-centred stories through digital media.
The event was organised by the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation. The workshop combined classroom instruction with practical exercises to familiarise participants with key techniques used in mobile-based documentary production.
Training areas covered
Participants were introduced to core aspects of mobile documentary filmmaking, including how to choose subjects and conduct historical research. The sessions also covered mobile cinematography for documenting heritage, ethical practices in tourism-related storytelling, sound recording, interview methods, editing short documentary films, voice-over production, the use of music, and optimising content for digital platforms.
The curriculum was designed and delivered by digital content specialists with experience in media development, digital storytelling, journalism training and strategic communications. The workshop paired theoretical instruction with practical demonstrations so that attendees could better understand how tourism narratives can be produced through widely available mobile technology.
The programme formed part of a broader effort to equip young participants with tools to create engaging visual content while promoting destinations and heritage across Pakistan through accessible digital formats.
