TOBA TEK SINGH: Three Federal Investigation Agency officials have been booked in Faisalabad on allegations of cheating in promotion examinations, according to the FIA.
The accused include two assistant sub-inspectors, Khalil Ahmed and Alam Sher, and Constable Azam Kaleem. The three appeared in the examination for promotion to the next grade without obtaining a no-objection certificate from higher authorities. They were also alleged to have served as supervisors during the running test for other candidates held at FDA City.
The alleged irregularities surfaced after FIA officials reviewed footage of the running test. Following that review, the FIA zonal director suspended all three officials. After their suspension, the officials left to avoid arrest. On the complaint of FIA Assistant Director Kashif Nazir, the FIA registered three separate cases against them.
In a separate incident, a Lahore police assistant sub-inspector died and his wife was critically injured in a road accident on the M-3 motorway near the Jaranwala Interchange, police said. ASI Amjad Ali, who was posted at Gulberg Police Station, was travelling home to Jaranwala when another car struck his vehicle from behind near Chak 628 GB Lundianwala. Police said both Amjad Ali and his wife, Surayya Bibi, suffered serious injuries and were being taken to THQ Hospital Jaranwala when he died on the way.
